Closed/Limited High Schools

This list came out today (December 11). If a school is deemed Closed, they will not be accepting students under Optional Attendance (out of area). If a school is not Closed, it is Limited; they may have some space for out of area students. If the school receives more applications than they have room, they will conduct a lottery.

Students in grade 8 may apply to two Specialized Programs in the TDSB. Deadlines for these programs vary and students may need to audition or write an entrance exam. Most of these programs ask you to provide your child's final grade 7 report and their grade 8 progress report.

Specialist High Skills Major

Specialist High Skills Major offers you an opportunity to complete your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) while focusing on a specific economic sector and supporting transitions to college, apprenticeship, university and the workplace. Sixteen economic sectors are represented and all boards must have Ministry approval in order to offer a SHSM.

This opportunity usually begins in grade 11; students apply in grade 10. If you are interested in SHSM, be sure to attend the open house of the school that offers this program.
