Ms. Donna Bonura began playing the flute when she was 11 years old and immediately knew this was going to be her future career. She has been an avid player and musician her entire life and has always made sure her love of playing steered her teaching and has always hoped this would inspire her students to find the same love of music.

Starting in London, Ontario, Ms. Bonura began playing music at 11 years at St. George's Public School, then onto A.B. Lucas Secondary School. She moved to Toronto mid-high school and attended Earl Haig Secondary where she was the lead in the Symphonic Band, Flute Choir, and school show pit orchestras. 

From there, she went on to the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, obtaining a Bachelors of Music Education degree with a minor in English Literature. She was the lead flute and piccolo player in the Symphonic Winds ensemble, 2nd flute in orchestra, performed in various chamber ensembles, and lead flute player for various musicals performed at Hart House Theatre. 

She completed her Bachelors of Education at Western and began teaching at the Peel Distrcit School Board in 2007. 

She retained a full time teaching position with the TDSB in 2010 and has been teaching at York Mills. C.I. since 2014.

In 2011, she began another Bachelors degree at the University of Toronto where she graduated with honours in 2020 with a Major in Classics, Art History, and a Minor in English Literature. 

Her love of learning and music is what drivers her to keeps students engaged and to always music in their lives in whatever capacity they can.
