The school was founded on April 1, 1937, under the name "Dajia Agricultural National School" with a two-year program. In April 1941, it was renamed "Dajia Practical Agricultural School." During the final years of World War II, from 1944 to 1945, there was some confusion in the school system. The school was referred to as "Dajia Agricultural Youth School" or "Dajia Intermediate Agricultural Vocational Supplementary School," in addition to its original name.
In April 1946, it was reorganized as "Taichung County Dajia Junior Agricultural Vocational School" with a three-year program. In August 1954, it changed its name to "Taichung County Dajia Demonstration Agricultural School." In August 1957, it was renamed "Taichung County Dajia Agricultural Vocational School" and became a five-year integrated program. In 1962, it started admitting junior high school graduates for agricultural studies with a three-year program.
In August 1968, it was reorganized as "Taiwan Provincial Dajia Senior Agricultural Vocational School." In August 1969, it was renamed "Taiwan Provincial Dajia Senior Agricultural and Industrial Vocational School." In August 1978, it changed its name to "Taiwan Provincial Dajia Senior Industrial Vocational School." In August 1986, a supplementary school was added. In August 1996, a special education experimental class for senior vocational high school was established. In February 2000, due to administrative streamlining, it was reorganized as "National Dajia Senior Industrial Vocational School." In January 2017, it was transferred to the Taichung City Government and renamed "Taichung Municipal Dajia Industrial Senior High School.
