Candidacy for FITB Presidency 2021-2025
Make Tchoukball on fire Again
Who am I?
Most of the member countries very likely already know me. I am a Tchoukball Man, a man who loves tchoukball for 32 years, and that you can tell from the tchoukball shirt I wear every day. I am a conscientious and modest person with a heart that only wants to assist everyone and with everybody, do more for tchoukball. We have great dreams, but we must pursue our dreams steadily, and we shall never stop until we reach our goals. I understand English and I can communicate with you. I am here to help and hope to work hard with everyone.
The reason I want to promote tchoukball is that Taiwan tchoukball is good. In addition, this sport is especially educational and tchoukball players from all countries are very friendly. Moreover, Professor Fang Rui-Min, who brought tchoukball to Taiwan, had asked me to help tchoukball before he passed away. I said that I would do my best. I also happened to be born in the year tchoukball was invented. I want to offer my help, but it is not for fame nor for profit. I admire Dr. Brand's vision ---The objective of human physical activities is not to make champions. but rather to help construct a harmonious society. The most important thing is I love to help this sport because of the good spirit in education.
I studied physical education in college in 1989. That was when I first learned tchoukball. Within less than an hour of instruction, we all started to have a great time playing tchoukball. It is easy for people starting to play for the first time.
I am a Ph.D. candidate at NTSU-National Taiwan Sport University. I have published approximately 10 academic articles , and only on tchoukball. I do so because everyone should know about the benefits of tchoukball.
I have been a tchoukball coach for 28 years, and the students in 4 schools I had worked before were all taught to play tchoukball. There are more than 40 teams competing in their annual interclass tournaments every year. In nearby neighborhoods, there are 18 schools that promote tchoukball. I helped 10 coaches work in school as PE teachers. Over the past 25 years, more than 20,000 people in the nearby areas have likely played tchoukball.
I was the founding general director of Kaohsiung City Tchoukball Association. Over the 25-year span starting from the first school, 76 schools in Kaohsiung have promoted tchoukball. Nowadays, 35 schools are still at it. At this time, I am the Chairperson of the Tchoukball Committee of the Municipal Athletics Federation in Kaohsiung.
I had served as the Deputy General Secretary in National Tchoukball Association, managing international affairs, helping Taiwanese teams participate in overseas tournaments, writing up plans, searching for funding, as well as organizing 6 international championships in Taiwan. I am currently an executive member of the Board of Directors.
I am the founder of Asia Tchoukball Federation (ATBF). In 1999, I spent TWD$1 million (approximately USD$36,000) out of my own pocket organizing and hosting international invitational championships and establishing ATBF, which was later renamed as APTBF (Asia Pacific Tchoukball Federation) in 2006. The first stop was Hong Kong, and from there we headed to more Asian countries. Now, there are 26 countries promoting tchoukball.
I am a FITB volunteer. I started from 2002 the technical committee, the executive committee, the presidency ,and then the honorary presidency. I brought tchoukball into the 2009 World Games, rebuilt the FITB system, and assisted with the establishment of 4 continental federations as well as the search for their subsidies and equipment. My 8-years presidency along with the dedication of the executive committee have contributed to the fruitful result seen internationally during that period that many countries started promoting tchoukball.
By and large, my involvement with tchoukball started at the grassroots, first as a tchoukball player, a coach, and then the general director, the chairperson before eventually taking on a post at the international level. Tchoukball is all I think about. I would like to bring tchoukball into major sports events and the Olympic system. I retired from school in August of 2020, which is to say I can fully focus on promoting tchoukball even more. I have visited 45 countries in the past to assist with tchoukball and my goal for the next 4 years is to add another 15 new countries to the list, hoping to eventually reach out to 60 countries altogether to join IOC Recognized.
Just see my facebook . You will know how active and practical I am for tchoukball.
