Our St. Joan SAC team is fantastic because of our students' energy and willingness to represent the student body, and of course, they want to make sure that school is always fun!
Hello Mavericks,
My name is Vishniga Karunakaran and I’m the 2024-2025 student advisory council president. My responsibilities this year include making life more manageable for you at St. Joan of Arc by making our school more accessible, and ensuring you have a memorable high school experience.
Besides the student council, I have been doing the morning announcements for the past 3 years, and working on the school newscast, “Arc on Air” since 2023; it is another form of knowing more about what happens around the school, letting students voice their opinions on some of the bigger school issues and events.
As someone who switched school boards and came to a school none of my friends attended, it was a quite a challenge for me to feel like I belonged here. The student council was what I felt was the right place for me. It made me feel like there was a space waiting for me, along with the other students and teachers I met who made me feel welcome. It made me feel like school was my second home.
My goal this year is to give that feeling to as many students as possible, doing as much as I can to make school a better place to be this academic year. I want to be the person students feel comfortable talking to, letting them know that they have a safe space to come to with any problem. SAC should be your comfort zone, as it was mine.
Welcome to St. Joan of Arc, your second home for the next 4 years!
