Message for a new School Year...

Hey Mavericks!

My name is Demi Conteh, a grade twelve student and this year's Student Council President. I have been on Student Council for all four years of my highschool career and I am deeply honoured to serve this school in many ways.

At St. Joan of Arc, I serve as Business Club President, an art department actor, a chaplaincy team member, and co-host of our school broadcast, Arc on Air. Beyond school, I advocate for youth on the Toronto Youth Cabinet advising city council, represented my provincial riding at the Ontario Model Parliament, and placed in the top 10 at a national competition through our HOSA club. Overall, I work to empower other students with the same opportunities to grow and reach their full potential. 

Leadership is a vital part of my life and I am committed to making an impact in the lives of others. I hope to share this passion with others through Student Council.

This year the Student Council team is dedicated to making St Joan of Arc a safe, inclusive and fun space where students are excited to attend everyday. I have an amazing team of thirteen with me this year and our teacher moderators are great supports as well. We hope to be the voice of the voiceless, bring to light key issues in our community and continue to work together for the benefit of the school. Look forward to many initiatives from us such as: Fun spirit weeks, Christmas Concerts and our annual Semi-Formal.

SJOA is a wonderful and welcoming community with great students and amazing staff. Together we strive for a better SJOA.
