The I Am King Student Conference is part of Toronto Catholic District School Board's commitment to identify, understand, minimize and eliminate the marginalization experience by Black male students in our schools. We have built the conference on the seven principles of Kwanzaa and intend to give our Black male students a voice as they are co-facilitating each of the workshops. Learn more about our event, the workshops, speakers and Kwanzaa throughout this site. Participants may attend the conference virtually from home or in a space in their school that is supervised by a staff member.

I believe that education should and must be made available and accessible to all who desire and wish to be educated. My reason for this stance stems from the fact that education offers a window into the person and only when we know what persons are capable of can we decide what sort of society we should live in and what kinds of institutions we need. Self-determination comes about when we acquire knowledge that enables us to make discerning and well-meaning decisions that lead to the transformation of self and communities. I strive everyday as an educator to overcome the difficulties and challenges of uncontrolled human emotions and uncontrolled human rationality especially in our present age of inequitable distribution of wealth and the ostracization of people who have a different view of the world. It is possible to provide an education for all our students that will enable them to overcome all these challenges and I shall continue to do my best to make that happen.
Attendance is the school's responsibility. Here are 4 Attendance Templates that you are welcome to use for each of the 4 sessions: MORNING/HUMAN RIGHTS/WORKSHOP 1/WORKSHOP 2
