What roles can educators play with regards to student’s mental health?

Consistent, trusted adults can have significant positive impacts in the lives of children and youth. Educators often become positive role models, mentors and watchful interveners.

"Positive mental health is foundational to academic achievement, life skills, and overall well-being. The efforts you make to support your students’ mental health will have an impact now and in the future." ~ SMHO

Using the Catholic Graduate Expectations

Catholic education views human life as an integration of body, mind, and spirit. Catholic education fosters the search for knowledge as a lifelong spiritual and academic journey. The expectations of Catholic graduates, then, are described not only in terms of knowledge and skills, but in terms of values, attitudes and actions. Students, with support, can look for ways on how they can integrate the ideas of the Expectations into being more mindful in their decisions and activities. When they are confident they have taken the time to make the right choice for themselves, they can rest easy knowing that their actions will not negatively affect them later.
