ENG4U2 - Interdisciplinary English, Grade 12, University Preparation
Prerequisite: English, Grade 11, University Preparation Note: Students must enroll in the IDP4U1 class and the Art component course to be admitted to this English course.
This course will emphasize consolidation of literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills through an interdisciplinary approach, considering and exploring the connections between literature and art. Students will analyze a range of challenging texts from various time periods, countries, cultures and social movements; write analytical and argumentative essays and a major paper for an independent, interdisciplinary literary research project and apply key concepts to analyze media works. An important focus will be on understanding academic language and using it coherently and confidently in discussion and argument. Several components of this course will challenge students to consider a theme or time period from a literary and artistic point of view.
