TCAPS Vision and Mission for Libraries

Library Vision:

TCAPS libraries are the hubs of learning and literacy in our K-12 schools, where information, collaboration and inquiry are used to equip all students as independent thinkers, informed citizens, and avid readers.

Library Mission:

The mission of the TCAPS Library program is to provide diverse resources, instruction and programs to ensure that staff and students are effective and adaptive users of information, safe and smart in their learning environments, and eager and willing readers.

Teaching Books - Now available for ALL TCAPS students and staff!

TeachingBooks is a database of resources for children's and young adult books and their authors and illustrators.  Use TeachingBooks to search titles, authors, and illustrators, and find resources to engage readers.  The resource collection includes short movies, audiobook readings, book discussion guides, ready-to-use lessons, author name pronunciations, and much more.  TeachingBooks is an equity tool for everyone using books in your schools, including all teachers, literacy coaches, librarians, students, and families.

Jump in with the Author Name Game, share a Complete Book Reading, or use the SEL Discussion Sparks with students.

Note: We have installed the TeachingBooks Book Connections extension on the TCAPS student Chromebooks - student Google search results are enhanced with recommended book titles and immediate access to resources from TeachingBooks that will connect them to books and authors.
