Chicago Alumni Chapter

Tau Beta Pi, founded in 1885, is the Engineering Honor Society that represents the top engineers across all disciplines and offers unique and valuable leadership opportunities. There are currently over 640,000 initiated members with 258 collegiate chapters and 52 alumni chapters. 

The Chicago Alumni chapter was the first alumni chapter, formed in 1907 and chartered in 1913. It serves the alumni of the Chicagoland area and supports the local collegiate chapters. Out of the 52 active Tau Beta Pi alumni chapters, the Chicago Alumni chapter was awarded the Most Improved Chapter for the year at the Annual Convention in 2024.

The chapters we support include:

• IL Beta - Illinois Tech / Illinois Institute of Technology

• IL Gamma - Northwestern University

• IL Zeta - University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)

We also indirectly support chapters in northern Indiana and central Illinois:

• IN Gamma - University of Notre Dame

• IN Delta - Valparaiso University

• IN Epsilon - Trine University

• IL Alpha - University of Illinois Urbana Champaign

Congratulations Chicagoland Tau Bates! Out of the 51 active TBP Alumni Chapters, Tau Beta Pi Chicago Alumni chapter were awarded the Most Improved Chapter for 2023-24! We appreciate all of you who helped us get there by coming to an event, helping at initiation or just attending a general meeting. It all adds up. We still have a lot we can continue to improve but we want to celebrate what we have accomplished! Looking forward to another successful year ahead!
