This committee will hold its first meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, in the Georgia 12 room on the 1st floor. Some District Directors will serve as advisors to this group. One will preside over the opening meeting and will ask the group to select the chair, who must be an appointed member of your committee and an official Convention voting delegate.
Your chair will present the committee's first report to the Convention at the Third Business Meeting on Saturday morning. Additional time has been set aside during the Chapter Awards Banquet on Saturday for final action on the report and recommendations. This committee is responsible for informing the Convention of all background information it needs to act upon your report and recommendations.
Your committee should choose the single winner in each program for each year and as many honorable mentions as you think are deserved. One to two honorable mentions have usually been given in each program. The committee chair will be seated at the head table to announce the winners at the Chapter Awards Banquet on Saturday evening and highlight their accomplishments.
The recommended first order of business after selection of chair, vice chair, and secretary is to divide into three appointed subcommittees: one working on the Matthews Award, the second on the Nagel Award, and the third on the Froula Award. Decisions of these groups may be final, or require voting by the whole committee as time permits. Your committee has been assigned the Georgia 12 room, but you can also use the Georgia 11 room if you need more space to spread out and deliberate in private.
Passwords to all required confidential documentation will be sent via email. The Project Awards for the R.C. Matthews and R.H. Nagel Awards are on a flash drive that will be provided by Curt Gomulinski. Previous committees strongly suggest that all members of the group review the recommendations provided by previous Conventions. Blank paper certificates will be available to present to the winners and honorable mentions (see Headquarters staff).
Meetings will be closed to all non-members of the committee because you have to work in private and without pressure from interested chapter representatives. Committee advisors are not involved in the screening process. Connor Dubrule, who handled the pre-screening process at Headquarters, will be available for any questions or assistance via on-site discussions.
The award recipients you select at Convention recognize superior achievement by the chapters. The work completed by our chapters is quite impressive.
Please provide electronic copies of all files, motions, reports, and proposals to the Convention Chair and Executive Director via email (tbp.convbus@tbp.org) prior to the Business Meeting when a report will be presented.
