REPORT
Introduction
Since the introduction of pests in NZ more than half of our birds have gone extinct, and nearly most are endangered. Not to mention half of kiwi chick survival rates are down by the tons; only three out of 49 chicks make it to adulthood. Predators also have killed at least 6% of most wild kiwis and possibly 60% of young kiwi. While this is happening, we have lots of traps for predators, so we are taking some steps toward a predator-free New Zealand. Wallaby was introduced to New zealand in Kawau Island by Governor Sir George Gray in 1870, some for private collection others for zoos but mainly for hunting. One of the reasons they brought over wallabies is because they are like kangaroos but smaller and can survive our harsh conditions.
Food web Rq1
It doesn't have a massive impact on its food web but it's still a pest so we are getting rid of them.As you can see dog is the apex predator, and the seed and herb are the producer, a lot of animals eat herbs and seeds, but also you can see that the wallaby is in the middle meaning that its not apex predator but it sort of fits straight into the food web but its still not supposed be there.
RQ2 What are the reasons why wallabies live in the darkness?
During the day they hide or bask in the sunlight. Mostly at night they are active because they are nocturnal, they sleep during the day and eat in at night and thier only eat at night time their diet is some grass, leafs and herbs.

Wallabies were introduced to Kawau Island by Governor Sir George Gray in 1870. Some then being released near Lake Ōkāreka in 1912 and wallabies is considered a pest 77. Wallabies are much smaller than a kangaroo, there is a small population of wallabies. The United Kingdom had about 100 of them, but they originally came from australia. Wallabies have strong tails and hind legs, their tail is not for gripping like it is for other animals but is used for stability. they can hop up 6 feet in the air.

How do we capture wallabies?
We use a lot of different ways to kill or capture wallabies but one of the most famous one is just plainly shooting them. This is one just of the most humane ways to kill them there's also some traps that kill them instantly but most of the time they get hunted for food. We have a lot of weapons like 1080, rifles and traps such as doc 200.
