Top tips from our current Year 10 students
DO
Make sure you choose subjects that you are good at
Pick subjects that you enjoy and not just the ones that you think would look good on your CV
Pick subjects which link to your future aspirations
Choose a variety of subjects
Talk to your teachers about a subject before choosing it
Don't rush when choosing your options
Discuss your option choices with your parent(s)/ carer(s)
Look into which qualifications your future job needs, if you know
Look at your report, what subjects are you doing well in?
Make sure you are 100% sure of your option choices before you submit your application
DON'T
Choose an option subject just because your friend(s) have
Don't choose an option subject just because you like the teacher
Don't pick a subject just because you think it might be easier than others
Don't feel pressured by family or friends to choose a certain option
Don't be afraid to ask your teachers, tutor or Head of Year if you have questions
Don't rush to return your application, take your time and revisit your choices after a week or so and make sure the options you have chosen are still what you want to study
