CCP3 is a year of coalescing. During the fall semester students will look back at what they have accomplished as a learner and community member to synthesize their attainment of the nine essential skills, represented as compass points. Once they enter the Spring semester, students are ready to start looking forward. Students will be asked to dig deep and explore their own passions and interests to better guide them in what they will do after they graduate high school. Each student will create a proposal for their Senior Capstone Project and present this proposal in an interview format.
Objective: you will have in your Digital Portfolio in the "Compass Points" page at least one artifact that demonstrates your understanding of or experience with each of the 9 essential skills below.
Unless the artifact explicitly describes the connection or relevance to the essential skill, the artifact must include a written annotation describing in detail the artifact's connection or relevance to the essential skill.
Examples of possible artifacts include the following:
Work samples from your learning career (written assignments, projects, presentations, etc.)
Written, video, or audio narratives of an experience where you developed or explored the essential skill
Using the definitions below, locate or create an artifact, from anytime in your career as a student, that specifically and thoroughly proves you have acquired each compass point. We recommend that you create a new folder in your Google Drive titled "CCP Compass Points". Populate that folder with artifacts (or potential artifacts) for each compass point. Together, we will look at creating Shortcuts within Google Drive. Click here for a student example.
Here are suggestions for possible artifacts:
Video of an experience
High quality writing sample
School project or presentation
Detailed anecdote (written, video, audio) of a life experience
Before you populate the Compass Points page in your digital portfoio with your artifacts, you will need CCP3-teacher approval of each artificact in your Google Drive.

After assembling your 9 essential skills artifacts, you will write a reflection on your learning journey through the lens of the 5 Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and compassion. This assignment will be conducted with support of your ELA enrichment teacher.
When writing your reflection, consider the Learning styles inventory, Matchmaker inventory, and written reflections in Career Cruising.
Once your reflection has been peer-reviewed and teacher-reviewed, insert it into your Digital Portfolio in the Compass Points page.
Each student will lead a guided exploration of a chosen "life skill". Students will be supported by teachers in this process, but this is an opportunity to practice research skills, time management, and public speaking. Examples of skills in this unit may include (but not limited to):
Filling out applications (FAFSA, taxes, job applications, etc.)
Finding housing
Cleaning and laundry
Cooking
Car maintenance
Home repair
Students will:
Revise their Digital Portfolio based on feedback from peers and teachers, which was completed in the Fall Semester.
Undergo an inquiry process of passion and purpose:
Develop a Capstone Proposal for their senior year.
Present their Capstone Proposal in an interview with a panel of Capstone teachers.
