1. Investigation
Explain & justify the need for a solution to a problem or need
Describe the need or problem you have identified?
Whom does it affect and how?
Justify the need for a solution.
Why is this problem worthy of the time and resources necessary to solve it?
Why is this need or problem relevant to you?
Why did you choose to address this problem or need?
Develop a brief introduction sentence or two telling the reader what you are addressing in this step and why.
Analyze existing products
Analyze at least 3 existing products made by other people which inspire a solution to the problem. Include the following for each product/project:
What are the benefits of this product/project?
How easy is it to use?
What are the possible benefits of its use?
Explain how it inspires your project.
Does this product/project support social justice?
What are the disadvantages of the product/project?
Explain how it might be harmful to humanity and/or the environment.
Describe how it might be improved.
Develop a brief introduction sentence or two telling the reader what you are addressing in this step and why.
2. Ideation
Develop a range of feasible ideas
Include at least 2 sketches (with annotations) that demonstrate a range of critical and creative thinking.
*If a sketch would not be appropriate for communication your ideas, write a complete description of your ideas (or record yourself talking about it).
Consider how you can use this technology to help humanity and/or the environment?
Sketches and annotations must clearly communicate your ideas
Compose and crop your images with intention (a beautiful portfolio is a professional portfolio).
Describe your chosen idea (one of your 2 or a combination of them)
Create a list of necessary resources
Your list of necessary resources may be in the form of a table or bullet points:
What tools will you need?
What materials will you need?
What digital resources will you need?
Will you need additional time outside of class?
If you do not currently have the required resources, how will you get them?
Develop a brief introduction sentence or two telling the reader what you are addressing in this step and why.
3. Creation
Create your chosen design
Now that you have a plan, create your chosen design.
Using your design sketches (2.a.) and your resource list (2.b.) build your project/product
Take pictures, screenshots and/or videos of your process
The only thing you need to do in your portfolio for this step is to insert evidence of your final product (link, photo, or video)
Be sure to collect artifacts of your process for 3.b. (photos, screenshots, videos, etc.)
Document your process and development of skills
Insert at least 4 artifacts of your process (pictures, screenshots, and/or videos)
Compose and crop your images with intention (a beautiful portfolio is a professional portfolio)
Add annotations to each image detailing your process and development of skills.
Develop a brief introduction sentence or two telling the reader what you are addressing in this step and why.
4. Evaluation
Test your prototype
Summarize your results and experience
Include the following:
Did you solve the original problem to set out to solve? Why or why not?
What challenges did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
What improvements might you make?
Describe with details
If there are no possible improvements, explain why.
