Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou kātoa.
My name is Trudy Pankhurst, and I am privileged to be the principal of Tangimoana School. I welcome you to our website and encourage you, if you are looking for a school that allows kids to be kids, that nurtures creativity alongside a focused and intentional teaching of reading, writing, and maths, browse through our website pages and make contact to come and visit our wonderful school.
Tangimoana School has much to offer, including structured literacy teaching for our juniors with staff trained in Little Learners Love Literacy (LLLL) and The Code Phonics approach to reading, spelling, and writing. We currently use Numicon Maths for teaching Mathematics, supplemented by online Mathletics.
We promote regular physical education with fitness, swimming, and sporting involvement in the Te Kawau cluster competition. We go on fishing trips with the beach, the forestry, and the river right on our doorstep.
Tangimoana has its own Inquiry programme called Tangi Time, where students may be introduced to a topic and use the Tangi Time process to answer questions they want to learn about. Currently, the seniors have been discovering what climate change is and how it is affecting our community.
For such a small school, we pack a lot of punch and we hope that we encourage you to not only view our website but come and visit us as we love to show off our little piece of paradise on the coast!
Ngā mihi,
Trudy Pankhurst
