Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou kātoa.

My name is Timu Niwa and I am privileged to be the principal of Tangimoana School. I welcome you to our website and encourage you, if you are looking for a school that allows kids to be kids, that nurtures creativity alongside a focused and intentional teaching of reading, writing and maths, browse through our website pages and make contact to come and visit our wonderful school.

Tangimoana School has much to offer including: focused literacy teaching for our juniors with staff trained in Early Words and the Yolanda Soryl Primary Phonics approach; Daily 5 reading and writing programme; Sheena Cameron and Louise Dempsey resources and approach used to promote oral language and writing skills across the curriculum; range of mathematical approaches to meet the diverse needs in mathematics including Bobbie problem-solving and Mathletics. We are a 'Genius Hour' school where children are given time in the school day to explore their own passions whether that be: cooking, construction or comic-strips! We promote regular physical education with fitness, swimming and sporting involvement in the Te Kawau cluster competition. We have a school badminton team that competes regularly in Palmerston North. We go on fishing trips with the beach and the river right on our doorstep. We send our school on an annual ski camp to Mount Ruapehu. For such a small school, we pack a lot of punch and we hope that we encourage you to not only view our website but come and visit us as we love to show off our little piece of paradise on the coast!

Ngā mihi,

Timu Niwa
