Who Are We

Principal: Timu Niwa

I have been a primary school teacher since the late 90s and have taught all primary and intermediate age groups throughout my career. I have taught in varying schools in the Manawatū, Auckland and in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am married to Laura and we have three young daughters and we recently built a house on a few acres in Mount Biggs between Sanson and Feilding. We returned to New Zealand in 2012 after being in Belfast for a number of years. I am currently in my fifth (and hopefully final!) year of part-time study for my doctoral degree through Massey University. In my spare time I enjoy playing 'Five Crowns' with my daughters and have a penchant for earl grey tea and asparagus! I teach the class at Tangimoana on for 3.5 days per week. I have been the principal of Tangimoana School since the start of 2017.

Principal Release Teacher/Office Administrator/Teacher Aide: Whaea Alice Viles

I’ve been in the education sector since 2008. I have taught primarily in the junior school and in ESOL or learning support roles. Prior to teaching I was an adult educator and training provider. While the Manawatū has been the base to my life I have travelled and worked in other NZ centres and foreign countries. I am married and have two teenage girls; we live on a cropping and stock trading farm. I enjoy outdoor activities, walking, the occasional creative pursuit, and genealogy.

From March 2019, I will be teaching in the classroom for 1.5 days, 10.5 hours as Office Administrator and 11.5 hours as Teacher Aide.
