If your classroom teacher is having a classroom celebration please consider sending a treat from this list of safe foods for students with allergies.
Allergies are an overreaction of the immune system in the body. A normally harmless substance (dust, pollen, mites, pet dander and food to name the most common) cause a reaction in the body to fight. That's why some people will have red teary eyes, itchy rash or hives, shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, or the worst reaction anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can lead to death. That is why it is so important for students with food allergies to have a safe environment with no cross-contamination.
