The following sections provide personal reflections on a wide range of my experiences in my undergraduate education, graduate studies, internships, organizational involvement, and various work experience. These reflections are examples of lifelong learning in action, emphasizing my collection of academic, professional, and personal knowledge in these areas.
This section highlights some of the most profound experiences I have encountered in graduate school and the professional relationships I have developed as a result of these various projects. The Bush School curriculum emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, and this has been very impactful in my personal development and learning how to collaborate with strict deadlines on projects with multiple group members. This section also highlights the 2019-2020 capstone project I worked on with the City of Bryan, and the multiple teams and types of collaboration I experienced in the single project.
My high-impact experience reflection focuses on the personal, professional, and interpersonal skills I attained in the duration of my internship at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC. When I moved to DC for the summer of 2019, aside from adjusting to a new position in a think tank, I also had to become adaptable to my surroundings and prepare months in advance before I moved. Learning to adapt to change is a critical lesson I took from this experience and has given me the confidence to take greater risks and push myself out of my comfort zone.
The skill set section in my ePortfolio is a collection of skills I have obtained and progressed throughout my adult years. In this section, I highlight a specific skill and reflect on it with one of my many experiences either in my undergraduate education, graduate school, or through my work experiences. The skills I chose to examine include critical thinking, numeracy, planning and organization, and communication. These skills have evolved over time and I believe they highlight my technical knowledge, while also emphasizing transferrable qualities that would be critical in any organization.
