The Aggie Spirit bus routes cover most of Main and West Campus, as well as the Rellis Campus. The bus is free to ride, however you will need to show your student ID card for A&M or Blinn College to ride.
Visit: My Aggie Card to obtain your TAMU ID. The website details the steps you’ll need to take to obtain your card and where to pick them up. These are handy to have if you should need them for bus or other services around campus.
GRAD TIP
The buses will stop if they see you waiting at a designated bus route post; however, when you make your return trip, you must be vigilant. The bus driver may not make a stop if there is no one waiting at your route post. There are bands, strings, or buttons located throughout the interior of the bus so that you can request your stop, simply press or pull to request a stop and a sign at the front of the bus will light up to notify the bus driver of a requested stop.
Routes and Schedule
Visit this link to see the full schedule for bus routes along with important announcements regarding bus services for holidays and special events. The Texas A&M University smart phone app (screen shots below) is also a useful tool to have when you need to quickly assess the bus schedule. It can be downloaded from your app store for free. The app also provides a map showing the buses assigned to your chosen route so you can ascertain where the buses are and estimate how long the wait at your bus stop might be.
GRAD TIP
It will be to your benefit to carefully choose your living arrangements so that any bus routes near you can get you where you need to go--especially campus, but also consider grocery stores, etc. However, if this is not possible, some local grocers offer delivery around the College Station area.
Paratransit (by bus) is also available for the differently abled. This website lists qualifications, steps for the application process, and pricing.
Here are some screen shots of the TAMU app for iPhone (the app is available for all smart phone devices).
Picture 1 is the home/loading screen;
Picture 2 shows the main menu that will automatically populate, and you can choose your desired portal;
Picture 3 is the Choosing the Bus Route portal, where you can select the route(s) you wish to see;
Picture 4 shows an example of Route 31 (Elephant Walk), with the stops shown by either circles (these are regular stops where the bus will stop if passengers are waiting, or a rider has requested a stop), or squares (where the bus driver must stop and wait until the scheduled leave time).
Most of the time the buses will keep to the schedule, but regardless, it will be your responsibility to keep an eye out for your stop. As noted above, you can make your stop request with the push or pull of a button or string in the interior of the bus.
Once you select a bus route, you can click the three lines in the upper lefthand corner of your screen to access an additional menu (picture 1, left) which shows options for Leave Times, Announcements, etc. Picture 2 (right) shows the Leave Times schedule, again for Route 31.
GRAD TIP
During the normal operating (7am-6pm) hours, any bus route will have multiple buses per hour; however after 6pm, the number of buses per route will decrease, and may be only one per hour. If you're on campus late at night, and need to take the bus, keep the schedule in mind!
