Yes! It would be interesting to compare a land heating experiment with fixed SSTs to one where the ocean is coupled

I still think it is a failure of the models to get the tropical part right that is the roadblock.

Yes, I heard about that. Something I’ve been thinking about is that the precipitation changes can alter the land-sea contrast. In relation to that work, if the SST pattern causes a drying over a land region, then this has a warming effect due to reduced surface evaporation. Certainly lots more to look into!
