BSL-2 Cell Culture
BSL-2 Cell Culture
The Biophotonics Group operates a specialized BSL-2 cell culture facility designed to support a wide range of cellular and molecular studies. The facility is divided into two separate rooms to ensure optimal sterility and workflow efficiency. Across both spaces, researchers work with over 20 immortalized and primary cell lines, enabling robust experimentation in cancer biology, immunotherapy, and regenerative medicine.
The clean room is dedicated to the maintenance and manipulation of established cell lines under strictly sterile conditions. It is equipped with three biosafety cabinets, three CO₂ incubators, two inverted microscopes, one fluorescence inverted microscope with 3D imaging capabilities, automated cell counter, -80C freezer.
All equipment is co-located within the same controlled environment to minimize movement and reduce the risk of contamination, supporting high-quality imaging, cell monitoring, and routine culture work.
The sample processing room is designed for isolating cells from animal tissues and performing advanced molecular biology workflows. It includes: two biosafety cabinets, two CO₂ incubators, automated cell counter, -80C freezer, automated confocal microscope (Cell Discoverer 7), automatic tissue dissociator (gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with heater), Luminex system for multiplexed protein analysis, RT-PCR system for gene expression studies, Oroboros Fluorespirometer for metabolic profiling.
This space supports complex sample preparation, functional assays, and high-throughput molecular analysis, enabling seamless integration of cellular and translational research.
