it will involve drawing objects from life using observation.
these objects should have personal relevance to you and could include:
personal objects such as cellphones, jewellery, watches,
drawing yourself using mirrors,
drawing family or friends from life,
drawing your favourite landscape, place, or a spot that has significance to you.
you will need to submit a minimum of seven pieces of work .
draw a personal object using shading to create three dimensional volume.
using a small mirror draw different parts of your face.
and this is how insanely perfect some people get...
draw a personal object using shading to create three dimensional volume.
using a small mirror draw different parts of your face.
choose a photographic image related to your years theme in art that you have taken .
enlarge it to A4 size and draw it as accurately as possible looking carefully to find all the light and dark shading.
try to avoid using lines to show a shape instead use the difference between shading to show shape.
This is very similar to part 3 just in paint choose an image related to your theme, preferably that you have taken, and copy it with paint as realistically as you can. try to match colours as well as you can. look carefully at how colours change and shading develops and attempt to do the same with your paint.
look at the work you have done so far this year. what have you liked ?what have you disliked?
using the methods and ideas you liked create an image that combines your drawings using wet and dry methods together.
paint is stronger so tends to come towards you in a painting
pencil as it is shades of grey will tend to go fade backwards when there is a painted section of work.
to get these credits you need to show accurate understanding of objects . so make sure you are really looking and not drawing what you think it looks like.
Using an artist model in your work is a fundamental in NCEA Art .
The basic idea is you use your subject, idea or concept and mix the style of another artist into the work.
This sounds complicated and it is.
The basic method is to find artist who have a style, colour palette, methodology, or feel that you like and experiment with putting some of those ideas into your work.
For example At the simple end it would be doing something like a self portrait and making it cubist because you liked picasso
Then to reach excellence you have to look at the intensions and meanings behind your artist models and start thinking how you can put that intent, meaning, emotion, concept into your own work.
Risk taking gets rewards. But not every risk will work. be willing to create disasters in your process of creating masterpieces.
This is a real picasso
this is someone using picasso as an artist model
this is someone using some ideas of picasso but also ideas of photography
this is someone who used some ideas of Picasso but went in there own direction with it.
This is how i hope you will treat artist models.

Another resource which I find fantastic is this Art teachers pinterest account she has created an amazing resource
Once you have found Artist models you like and want to work with you have to create work which combines your topic and subject matter with ideas and styles of your artist model.
the more work you do with the more experimenting the better your grade.
When we do get back to school we will be mixing these ideas and styles with printmaking and photography.
a minimum of four works using an artist model. they dont have to be big A5 is fine .
Then find a new artist model and do some more.
