Students study accounting vocabulary, the relationship between accounting and business and the accounting cycle for service businesses organized as a proprietorship. Business Economics is fundamental to understanding the concepts of Supply & Demand. It answers questions such as: Is there a cost when spending too much time on your phone? Is there a cost of going to school? Why are there so many products that are similar, but different? This course focuses on learning the theories behind Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Opportunity Cost, Entrepreneurship and the role of Government in Regulation. Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications is a year-long course for seniors, and the course is designed to develop a strong foundation in logical thinking and problem solving that will enable students to make informed decisions regarding matters of money and finance in their daily lives. This course is a senior year Quantitative CADR. This course furthers the development of functions, which include linear, exponential, piece‐wise, quadratics, and step functions. Other topics studied include measures of center and spread, graphical representations of data, principles of finance economics, amortization, supply and demand, revenue and profit functions, loans, compound interest and continuous interest, credit card debt, car ownership, and budgets. Introduction to Computer Programming is an engaging course that explores a variety of basic computational thinking and programming concepts through a project-based learning environment. This course uses SNAP! programming language designed at the University of California, Berkeley. Retail Operations (Student Store) is a hands-on laboratory class. Students apply Marketing knowledge and develop skills in buying, selling, ordering, inventory control, staffing, management, merchandising, sales promotion, information systems, money handling, accounting and all basic store operation procedures. Students learn the operation of a state-of-the-art point of sale computer system, Keystroke, a system used by many major retailers. Students are prepared for entry-level employment. All students will obtain a King County Food Handlers Permit. Students will take lunch 30 minutes before the start of Power Hour, then work one half of the Power Hour.
