Student Wellness Advocates

The Tahoma School District is working in partnership with King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) to implement a screening and intervention system called STAR. The goal is proactive support for students in building skills to prevent youth mental health and substance use issues. To learn more about this program, click here.

At Tahoma High School, we have two Student Wellness Advocates who will be implementing this program to support students.

Gwendolyn Huete, who continues in the role, and Janelle Cotogna who is new to Tahoma this fall. Both will be working closely with our 10th grade team around wellness as well as with our school counselors to support mental health and wellness building wide.
