Running Start
To enroll in Running Start, students must complete these steps in this order:
Register for classes at THS, just in case your plans for Running Start don't work out. Exception: students who are currently full time and plan to be full time next year do not need to register for classes at THS.
The next steps typically take about 2 weeks to complete.
Apply to the college.
Watch for emails from the college. Complete tasks that are required in a timely fashion.
Complete orientation with college.
Determine eligibility by submitting your THS transcript or passing the English placement test at the college. You must be placed in English 101+ to be eligible for Running Start.
If planning to take college level math at the college, you also have to prove eligibility in math (HS transcript or test).
Once you have passed placement testing, you will receive an enrollment packet from the college which needs to returned to the college. Follow the instructions from the college.
Read and complete Running Start Agreement; you (students) need to email the completed form to your THS counselor.
Meet with THS counselor: Students should call 425-413-6204 or email their counselor to schedule an appointment. You will need your CTC Link ID number to make this appointment. At this meeting, your counselor will fill out your Enrollment Verification Form (EVF) with you so you know what classes you need to take to meet high school graduation requirements. Number of college credits paid for is dependent on number of classes taken at THS. Each EVF is unique based on what credits a student has earned and what they need to take at the college to meet THS graduation requirements.
Submit completed EVF to Running Start office at the college using the process they describe for you to follow.Â
Complete college registration. Registration for fall typically opens up in mid to late May.

Students should visit the Running Start webpages of the college they wish to attend. Colleges periodically host Running Start information events for students and their families. Below are links to the Running Start pages of the schools most commonly attended by Tahoma students, but students can attend any Washington college that offers Running Start.
