TEA Players 2026/2027

This School Year, TEA Players led by Chance Utter and Eileen Kohli present the musical theatrical performance of Lion King Jr.! This five month production brings the story to life through rehearsals, singing and dance practice, costumes, and culminating performances.

Based on Disney’s animated film, Lion King Jr. follows Simba, a young lion destined to become king, as he navigates friendship, family, loss, and finding his place in the world. Along the way, Simba encounters unforgettable characters including Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, and the mischievous Scar.

With African music, engaging choreography, elaborate costumes, and plenty of theatrical fun, Lion King Jr. gives student-performers the opportunity to build confidence, collaborate, and bring a timeless story to the stage.

About this Production - This performance will feature elaborate costumes, props and set pieces that will bring the African Savannah and its many characters to life. Participants are invited to try out for a lead role like that of Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Nala, Timon, or Pumbaa! Others will perform multiple key performance roles. Participants will also create set pieces and learn how to apply colorful and inspired makeup.

Directed and Choreographed: Chance Utter and Eileen Kohli 

Directed by Chance Utter, Chance brings extensive musical experience to teaching drumset, hand drums, guitar, and ukulele, adapting his instruction to students of all ages and skill levels while exploring rhythms and styles from around the world.  

He served as Musical Director for TEA Players last year and for multiple Tahoe Summer Camp productions in ‘26. He will take on a significant directing role alongside Ms Eileen for this year’s production of The Lion King Jr. His experience and enthusiasm inspire students to explore rhythm, creativity, and musical expression.

Directed by Eileen Kohli, is our Art Teacher at Tahoe Expedition Academy with a BFA in Costume Design and a minor in Cinema Studies from the Savannah College of Art and Design, as well as an MAT in Art Education from Georgia State University. 

Her background in costume and production design, visual storytelling, and the arts brings a strong creative perspective to TEA Players. For this year’s production of The Lion King Jr., Eileen will take on a significant directing role alongside Chance Utter, helping bring the production’s characters, story, music, and visual world to life on stage.
