The Common App is a central application that allows you to use one application to apply to several schools. Over 800 schools in the U.S. and some institutions use the Common Application. You can find a full list of universities that use the “Common App” here. (Please note that, while most universities in the U.S. use the Common App, MIT and Georgetown do not, and most universities outside of the U.S. also do not).
You can log into and create your Common App account here. You can make a Common App account as early as August 1. We encourage you to begin this process as soon as possible.
As a student in SYE it may be a good idea to add your mentor as an advisor to your Common App so they can see a PDF preview of your application. There is a section on the Common App where you can add up to three advisors’ emails for this access purpose.
Dashboard
This will allow you to track your progress for each of the universities to which you will submit the Common App. Once you add universities on the “My Colleges” tab, they will automatically be added to your Dashboard.
My Colleges
The My Colleges section of the Common App allows you to access information about each of your chosen colleges’ admissions requirements. Students can add a maximum of 20 universities to the Common App.
