Social Justice Opportunities for SCS World Square Office Staff:
Staff at the SCS World Square Office are encouraged to give generously of their time and resources where possible, to those less fortunate. Various social justice opportunities are available for staff throughout the year and we encourage you to register/volunteer at any of these whenever you have the time or opportunity.

Come and join Sr Fidelis from the Society of Mary to serve breakfast to the homeless. She would be delighted to have employees from Sydney Catholic Schools assist her. All food and beverages will be supplied.

Grill’d Burgers restaurants and Vinnies Metropolitan Van Services continue to support up to 200 people accessing Sydney Night Patrol vans for assistance.
On the first Tuesday of every month, the Grill’d restaurant at World Square (Ground Floor, 644 George St, Sydney) closes its doors to the public to provide those in need with a hot sit-down meal.
Sydney Catholic Schools staff based at the World Square Office are once again warmly invited to volunteer their time for this meaningful initiative. No training or paperwork is required—just bring a friendly smile to meet, greet, and assist our guests.
Date: First Tuesday of each month
Time: Arrive by 4.45 p.m.; service ends around 7.30 p.m.
Roster: Staff may volunteer for a maximum of two shifts.

This initiative offers more than just meals; it fosters human dignity, friendship, compassion, and community connection. It also allows Vinnies to share referral options for ongoing support with those struggling to meet basic needs like food and utility bills.

The Matthew Talbot Hostel provides temporary accommodation, specialised support and meals to 100 men a night. They are currently looking for support to help with serving breakfast and dinner. Sydney Catholic Schools Head Office already assists on a weekly roster.
Date and Time : Every Tuesday from 6:45 a.m. to 8:15 am. (Breakfast) or every Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. (Dinner )

Currently in Australia, more than 122,000 people don't have a place to call home.
Each month, the SCS will be collecting items to help support St Vincent de Paul care for the homeless on our streets by giving them the necessary items. Please check this webpage on a monthly basis for a list of items being collected. This changes each month.
Examples include;
Female and Male Deodorants
Sunscreen (small bottles)
Black Hats
Small-size toiletry items
Male and Female underwear (in all sizes)
Cotton Buds
Band-Aids
Long Life Milk
If you would like to donate please place items in buckets provided on Level 22 and 23 Kitchens during the collection period.

The Mission and Identity Directorate are offering staff at World Square the opportunity to volunteer their time to get involved in our Vinnies Night Patrol roster.
Vinnies Night Patrol gives people the opportunity to have a direct impact on the lives of those at risk of experiencing or currently experiencing homelessness in our city. Almost all visitors to this service LOVE the social connection and someone to listen to them. Through a variety of engagement opportunities via the Night Patrol service, you have the chance to make a real and positive difference to Australians experiencing poverty and disadvantage. The Mission and Identity Directorate are inviting YOU to be part of this essential service.
