Choosing the appropriate people as your school’s Sycamore School Super Users is one of the most important things you can do to successfully implement and maintain Sycamore School. A Super User acts as a liaison between Sycamore Education and your school. We generally allow 2 Super Users per school.
Sycamore School Super Users will have access to your entire site, including one additional menu item ‘Site Admin’. Under Site Admin, Super Users are able to change school contact information, set site configurations, add employee permissions, use our migration wizard, but most importantly, it gives them access to our Customer Support Team.
This person will have the day-to-day responsibility of working with your staff and ours to keep Sycamore School running smoothly. The Super Users are the over-all keepers of the system and should be those who are able to handle that responsibility from a technical and administrative standpoint.
The people who generally tend to be most successful in this role have the following traits:
Proficient in the use of technology.
Able to articulate any issues you are experiencing to our support team either by Support Tickets or Phone.
Understanding of general school procedures, such as school calendars, grading and report card procedures, etc.
Understanding grading processes, GPA, numeric average, weights and credits.
Availability is key during the first 90 days with Sycamore.
This person does not necessarily need to be an administrator or principal. If necessary, these individuals can be given all permissions to their site, except for Site Admin.
Only Sycamore can enable the Super User permission and reserves the right to remove this permission from those that abuse the position.
How can we add Super Users?
Super Users are the one permission that we (Sycamore Support) control. We encourage schools to only have two Super Users assigned. Additionally, we will only allow two Super Users to submit tickets. Here are some general reminders...
Please appoint two Super Users as those who will submit tickets.
Super Users can hurt you and wipe out data, so please caution them to not run things they aren't sure of and to always read the messages that pop-up as we caution you before impact.
Should they wipe out data that we need to later restore, there will be a cost associated with this.
Other users with the correct permissions like Back Office, Admissions Manager, Attendance Mgr, etc can also wipe out data in their perspective area, so remind them of these same rules apply. Be careful, read warning messages and if you have questions be sure and ask!
