About Mrs. Bussott
I have been an elementary educator since 2003. This will be my 23rd year teaching. I hold a Masters in Elementary Education from Nazareth College, NY and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Rutgers University, NJ.
During the 2021-2022 school year, I had the honor of representing Gloucester County as Teacher of the Year and advocating for education for students in New Jersey. I actively work in various ways with he NJCTY family to represent Gloucester County and support New Jersey's public schools, pre service teachers, families and students.
I live in Swedesboro, and our three children, John, Joseph, and Lauren attended SWSD and are graduates of Kingsway Regional High School. I am a proud Military Mom and crazy Dog Mom. I have 3 black lab mixes that I adore and love to tell stories about. Students will get to know my Jenny 10, DOC 3, and Frankie 1.
At my core, I believe all children have value. I encourage students to celebrate our beautiful diversity. I am always looking for ways to teach our children to care for our community and the environment through project based learning. Our schools are recycling centers for plastic film bags, removing thousands of pounds of plastic bags and films from the environment. In the summers of 21 and 22 I directed a SWSD Kids Gardening Club where students attended twice a week to grow vegetables along with flowers. In 2018 and 2019 my class participated in the Philadelphia Zoo's UNLESS contest to take action for wildlife and the environment. We participated in conservation projects within our community to save endangered species and promoted water conservation, waste reduction, and public awareness of climate change.
