Our Class Overview
Welcome to the new 2025 -2026 school year. Our classroom is upstairs in the orange wing in Room 2219. Ms. Alli Horn and I are paired together in a combined Pull Out Resource Class. This approach means that two teachers—a general education teacher (Bussott) and a special education teacher (Horn) —will work together all day to support the learning of all students in the classroom.
In this model, both teachers share responsibility for planning, instructing, and supporting all students in the classroom. This creates a rich learning environment where students benefit from the strengths and expertise of two educators. Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to work in small groups with either teacher and interact with a variety of peers to deepen their understanding.
The curriculum will follow the second-grade pacing guides and include instruction in all core subjects, with no interruptions or delays in content. In addition, for forty minutes each day, the special education teacher will work with a small group of students outside the classroom to provide targeted reading support, after which those students will return to continue learning with their classmates.
This co-teaching model is a valuable opportunity for your child to build strong relationships with two dedicated teachers and to receive instruction that is tailored to meet their needs. Whether your child needs extra support or is ready for additional enrichment, this classroom environment is designed to help every student grow and succeed.

Introduce Yourself and Your Student!
I would love to hear about your child. Please feel free to send me an email about your child to introduce them! Send a photo of a fun summer activity or vacation and we can share it with the class if they are comfortable, as a way to get to know their classmates. I love reading these first emails as a way to get to know your family.

Contact Information: lbussott@swsdk6.com - This should be primarily used to contact me regarding your student. I check email everyday and will respond in 24 hours.
Office Hours - Monday through Thursday from 3:30-3:50. Please email me to schedule a phone conference if you would like to speak to me about any questions or concerns that you have. I do not answer outside calls during instruction time.
Class Dojo - We will be setting up class dojo with available guardian emails so please accept the invitation. You can connect via your cell phone number if you prefer. This will be how we send out photos of activities and reminders for events. Please do not use the DOJO app to ask important questions that need timely answers. We do not have phones on with class dojo app available during class hours and will not hear alerts or know there is a message.
