Students will take a diagnostic test in reading and math three times a year on the digital platform iReady. Student reports will come home in the Fall, Winter and Spring to explain your child's progress.
There are 5 units that cover our 2nd grade math standards:
Unit 1 Numbers to 20, Addition and Subtraction, Data
Unit 2 Numbers to 100, Addition and Subtraction, Time and Money
Unit 3 Numbers to 1,000, Addition and Subtraction, Place Value
Unit 4 Measurement, Addition and Subtraction, Line Plots
Unit 5 Shapes and Arrays, Partitioning and Tiling Shapes, Arrays, Even and Odds
Each Unit has 5 to 7 Lessons, which are similar to "Chapters." Each lesson has 3 to 5 "sessions" to explore, develop, and refine math skills and strategies.
Daily math routine:
10 minutes on iready learning path
math talks and group practice
guided practice to picture and connect the problem
independent practice to apply what is learned to solve more problems
small group instructional support and math centers
additional practice for homework
