Victims

Requirements

Victims need to be willing to be bandaged, splinted, rolled, and sometimes backboarded.  Last year we had 6 stations of the same scenario that each had two patients. All patient #1s have the same injuries and play the same role. All the patient #2s play the same role as each other. For that reason we try to have 6 people who are similar in size.  If we have 6 children, then all the teams had a child-sized person for that scenario and it is fair.

What Victims Do

Victims sit, stand, or lay in place in their scenario station as directed. Teams will get a written scenario that describes the position of the patients so we want it to match. Each victim is paired with a judge. Victims do not act or say anything. All questions the responders ask will be answered by the judge. 

The Victim's Day

We ask victims to check in by 9:30 am and they will meet on ground floor at 9:45 am. A staff member will meet with you to go over what we are doing and see if there are questions. They will group victims into groups of 6. There will be victim 1 and victim 2 for each of the 3 scenarios. There may be scenarios where victims are backboarded. Others may have victims sitting in a chair for the entire scenario. The staff member will go over some of these special opportunities to select appropriate people. You will be led to your scenario location and paired up with your judges. They will tell you where you will be placed. Once teams arrive, you should get into place and let the teams assess and treat you for the 20-minute scenario. When the scenario is done, they will take bandaging and splints off of you and you will have 20 minutes until the next scenario.
