A little bit about me:

Since the fall of 2016 I have been a visual art teacher at Watkins Memorial High School. I currently teach Drawing, Painting, and Advanced Art Studio. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in the Visual Arts with a teaching certification in 2009 from Otterbein University in Westerville. I have also taken a year of courses from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in studio photography, which allowed me to work at and manage a portrait studio for 2 years. In addition to this, in 2024 I earned a Masters Degree from Ohio State University in Art Education. I have worked as a practicing artist since 2009, and have shown my work in gallery exhibitions. For 4 years I served as the Fine & Youth Arts Director for the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair during the summers of 2022-2026. I look forward to bringing the knowledge I’ve learned from these varied experiences into my classes at WMHS. 

About my classes:

For each unit of my classes I will place the resources, tutorials, and notes on Google Classroom. Google Classroom will be used frequently throughout classes as a hub for information and assignments. If a day of class is missed, you can check what was happening on Google Classroom. For online learning you will be instructed through online videos that I or another artist has created, in addition to support and intervention. Drawing paper will be provided to fill a sketchbook for class, along with some art making supplies to use during the course. Sketchbooks can be taken home, but should always be present in class. For grading, assignments and projects will be assessed on a grading rubric based on the assignment's objectives.
