Welcome to the website for Mr. Garrabrant's Classroom!
Here at Watkins Memorial High School we offer a variety of courses in the visual arts including digital art, photography, ceramics, sculpture, CCP courses, drawing, painting, and an advanced art studio course. All of these courses are meant to challenge students to grow in their creativity, observation skills, and conceptual thinking. This website covers the classes taught by Mr. Garrabrant, which include the Drawing, Painting, and Advanced Art Studio courses.
OVERVIEW OF COURSES
Here at Watkins Memorial High School, our courses in Drawing, Painting, and Advanced Art Studio serve as gateways to explore their creative side and learn conceptual thinking as well as technical skill.
Drawing Course: Begin with the basics. Everything starts with drawing. From simple sketches to intricate designs, our drawing course meticulously guides students through the foundations, teaching them to bring their ideas to life on paper. This course is not just about technique, but also about observation, interpretation, and storytelling.
Painting Course: Dive deeper into the world of colors. Our painting course offers students the chance to experiment with various mediums, styles, and techniques. Whether you're dabbling with watercolors or mastering acrylics, this course provides the tools and guidance needed to be comfortable working with paints to make your artistic vision appear.
Advanced Art Studio: For those ready to push the boundaries, our Advanced Art Studio is a playground of innovation. Here, students undertake advanced projects, learn about art history and critique, and develop a portfolio showcasing their unique style and perspective. It's more than a course; it's a holistic experience designed for budding artists eager to leave their mark.

Keeping in line with the district's commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, we aim to bring the community together in these innovative learning spaces. Here, every penny spent is a step towards nurturing the next generation of artists, critics, and patrons. The art courses at WMHS come with student fees, which provide the students with materials to use during their classes. Students will have the opportunity to take home the artistic product of these fees throughout the year, and some supplies will go home with them to continue their artistic pursuits after the course is over.
