Welcome students, parents, and guardians to the counselor's web page!
The Role of the School Counselor
The counseling department is excited to have you join the Cavalier family. We are here to guide and support you. CVMS students are assigned to a school counselor based on their last name. In most cases, the student will continue with that counselor until promoted from middle school. School counselors assist with academics, college and career planning, and social-emotional needs, in addition to the class schedule and any questions and concerns that you may have. Students may visit the Counseling Center during nutrition break and/or lunch, schedule an appointment via e-mail, or print their names on their counselor’s door. Students who have an urgent or safety concern should immediately let a counselor or staff know. Counselors also help students formulate and solidify career goals. Information about colleges and occupations is provided through classroom presentations, this web page, and special events so students may prepare themselves intelligently to meet the requirements of their future goals, both educationally and vocationally. We welcome parent support so that we can work together as a team to help every student achieve success. Parents are encouraged to call or e-mail their child’s counselor with questions or discuss concerns.
