STEP 2: FROM THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT:
REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR RETURNING CVMS STUDENTS
Current CVMS students will receive a hard copy of the 8th-grade Course Offering Form during the second semester in their Int. Math 7B class to bring when they meet one-on-one with their school counselor during February to select their top 5 elective choices for the 2026-2027 school year. Electives are yearlong courses; therefore, we encourage students to choose wisely. Your student may visit their school counselor during nutrition break or lunch if they have further questions.
A student's 8th-grade schedule will consist of an English 8, Math 8, General Science 2, US History 8, P.E. 8, and one Elective class. On this page, you can download the 8th-grade Course Offering Form, where you will select up to 5 electives, with #1 being your top choice only if your student missed their one-on-one meeting with their school counselor.
*Please note: electives are open until filled based on when you submit/complete OLR registration. If electives are not chosen, the counselor will select the first available elective. All Electives are year-long courses. Students with an IEP or below-grade-level in Reading or Math may be placed in a support class rather than an elective.
Parents/guardians and students review the course offering form and course description before meeting with the school counselor one-on-one in February via their Int. Math 7B class.
