What makes people choose one product over another? How do brands grab your attention and keep you coming back? In Introduction to Marketing, students discover the answers while creating their own ideas, campaigns, and businesses from the ground up.
The course begins by exploring the foundations of marketing, including the marketing mix (product, price, place, and promotion) and the promotional mix—learning how companies connect with customers in creative and strategic ways. Students will analyze real brands, explore current trends, and understand how marketing influences everyday decisions.
As the course progresses, students take their learning to the next level through the exciting City Collaborative Project. In this hands-on experience, students design their own company within a student-created city. They will develop a brand, identify a target market, create marketing strategies, and build a professional website to showcase their business. This project allows students to apply everything they’ve learned in a fun, creative, and realistic way.
Perfect for students interested in business, social media, design, or entrepreneurship, this course builds confidence, creativity, and real-world skills. By the end of the class, students won’t just understand marketing—they’ll have created and marketed a business of their own.
This class is open to freshman through juniors.
