This course will prepare students to apply artificial intelligence to common workflows, processes, and problems in programming and design. Students will analyze the broader societal, technological, and ethical impacts and implications of its usage and development. Students will learn how to construct prompts and queries and how to critically analyze generated responses
This first course in the IT career field is designed to provide students with a working knowledge of computer concepts and essential skills necessary for work and communication in today's society. Students will learn safety, security, and ethical issues in computing and social networking. Students will also learn about input/output systems, computer hardware and operating systems, and office applications.
Coding, or computer programming, is widely recognized as the language of the future. This course teaches the foundations of coding and is intended for students with no previous background knowledge of computer programming. In this course, students will learn how to code in a fun and accessible way through a series of learning modules including video tutorials, code examples, programming challenges, and applied exercises.
In this course, students will demonstrate sales processes and techniques used in a business-to-business environment. They will develop, grow, and maintain positive business relationships through sales, marketing and promoting their school t-shirt business. Students will monitor trends and the business environment to determine the impact on their sales, customers, and competitors. They will negotiate and adjust prices and sales terms. Students will manage sales activities and territories. Technology, employability skills, leadership and communications will be incorporated in classroom activities.
How do you turn an idea into a business? This course focuses on recognizing a business opportunity and what it takes to start a business. Students will be exposed to the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation in this course.
Pre-engineering exposes students to the basic building blocks of the Engineering Design course. This semester class focuses on optimizing designs and troubleshooting through hands-on builds in the five engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, and Manufacturing. Students will use Tinkercad, a 3D modeling program, to create objects according to design
criteria.
Engineering Design is an introductory college level course that exposes students to an array of different engineering disciplines. The course focuses on the application of the engineering design process through experiential learning as you develop your
critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills. A strong knowledge of algebra and geometry concepts will help students as they use dimensional analysis and quantitative reasoning to optimize designs. Spatial reasoning will be honed utilizing the following 3D modeling programs: Tinkercad, OnShape, and Autodesk Inventor. Additionally, students will interpret industry prints and create working drawings utilizing modeling programs from functional models to reduce manufacturing costs.
The purpose of this course is to provide students with instruction in the career planning process. Topics include a comprehensive skills assessment, identification of work and personal values, career interests, work and learning styles, and personality types related to career paths, college majors, and academic success. Each student will participate in activities including job shadowing, reality day, and will complete college and career-related projects.
Senior Only Course
This immersive training allows students to learn in a controlled environment that mirrors real-life scenarios they will face in their careers. Students will experience multiple incoming calls, radio traffic, and the need for quick decision-making—all while managing distractions and responding to requests from first responders. 9-1-1 is an in demand and emerging public safety career, well paid with excellent benefits.
Learn basic food preparation techniques, and how to select foods to promote a healthy lifestyle. Students will apply cooking methods, ingredient selection and nutritional information while making a variety of foods. Throughout the course, basic food safety and sanitation techniques are emphasized.
In this course, students will compare cuisines, ingredients, and preferred cooking methods of various cultures. The influence of traditions and regional and cultural perspectives on food choices and culinary practices will be emphasized. Students will examine the issues and conditions that affect the availability and quality of food in the global market, and apply advanced cooking techniques, including the use of specialty and advanced equipment in the preparation of food dishes.
In this course, we will expand the skills developed in Principles of Food. Students will apply fundamental culinary techniques
such as knife handling skills and the proper use of kitchen tools and equipment. An emphasis placed on kitchen organization, management of time and use of the proper ingredients.
In this course, students will explore a broad range of topics relating to the various aspects and career opportunities available in the field of fashion, textiles and design. Emphasis given to textiles project development and developing strategies to maintain the home. Additional topics will include project collaboration, design techniques and environmental sustainability.
In this course, students will study the stages of fetal development, infant development and growth of the child. An emphasis placed on cognitive development, sensory development and motor skills. Additional topics include parenting roles and responsibilities, prenatal care, discipline and guidance techniques, and health and nutrition.
The CTE courses can be taken in lieu of the Fine Art courses.
