2024 preparatory work

Preparing for Borlase

It is important that all students are confident that they can make an effective, purposeful start to their A level courses in September 2024.  All departments have been asked to outline preparatory work that students should complete over the summer.

Essential Preparatory work

During the information session the Maths department went through the key preparatory work that you will need to do ahead of starting A level Maths or Further Maths at Borlase.

The department has compiled a "Maths Department Summer Information Booklet" Please ensure to read it carefully and complete the Summer Work in readiness for your first Maths or Further Maths lessons in September.

You will also need to purchase a new calculator, we use the Casio CG50. Please see the Summer Information Booklet for more details.

Further Maths pupils

DO NOT DO THE SINGLE MATHS SUMMER WORK.

Further Maths students are expected to self-learn the following topics from the Pearson Year 1 textbook (details of this textbook are in the Department booklet); please note this textbook is the BLUE PURE MATHS textbook not the GREEN CORE PURE MATHS textbook.

You should read through the notes and examples, and complete the Mixed Exercise at the end of each chapter (you do not need to do all exercises within the chapter).

This must be completed, marked and brought to your first Maths Lesson in September.
