Mathematics allows you to make sense of the world by modelling, finding patterns, making connections and organising information. It underpins all physical processes and an understanding of mathematics is needed to gain a deeper appreciation of how the universe works.Â
As a developing mathematician, you learn how to follow a chain of reasoning to a logical conclusion and are able to make informed predictions about new situations. You learn how to solve problems individually and collaboratively by approaching an unknown situation in a conceptual way. You will be stimulated by being challenged and encouraged to ask questions. You start to enjoy solving puzzles and persevering with problems, finding beauty in abstract processes and connecting seemingly unrelated concepts.
