French, as with all Modern Foreign Languages, allows you to communicate successfully with speakers of other languages, and gives you a deep cultural and social appreciation and understanding of their countries. You appreciate and learn your own language and culture through learning other languages. You master the key building blocks of foreign languages - phonics, vocabulary and grammar - and apply these successfully and with increasing confidence and complexity. You really enjoy exploiting links, patterns, commonalities and differences in languages to be able to communicate effectively.
