Preparing for Borlase
It is important that all students are confident that they can make an effective, purposeful start to their A level courses in September 2024.
Preparatory work
1) Francophone culture and current affairs: Each week (6 in total), complete a "lu, vu, entendu" (hyperlink) on a chosen news article/video using one of the following websites (ensure you have a mix of articles and videos to practise your reading and listening and bring to first lesson):
2) Francophone cinema: Watch a film or series in French, (in French with English subtitles if you wish). There are plenty to choose from on Netflix, Amazon or Disney, specific recommendations can be found on this document. Write a short résumé (summary) of the storyline, and your opinion on the film or series (90-120 words)
3) Unit 1 vocabulary- Ensure you are confident with the vocabulary from Unit 1 so you come to the lessons prepared in September
4) French Grammar- Ensure you are confident with all elements of GCSE grammar- see AQA website for topic list. You will have a grammar test in September.
