Curriculum statement

"Reading is the sole means by which we slip involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul."

(Joyce Carol Oates)

Through the skills of analysis, synthesising, extrapolating meaning and writing fluently, we want to foster a life-long passion for the beauty of the English language in our students.

Thus, our curriculum is designed to develop our students’ ability to empathise and to understand relationships, psychology and people. We want them to learn and question the ‘big’ ideas of life; to learn how historical factors have influenced lives; to learn to experience things that in ‘real’ life they may never experience. We want them to learn to dream, to laugh, to cry and to escape - and, fundamentally, to learn who they are and who they will become.
