The Swan River School Student Council has begun a new fundraiser to raise money for the good of the school. Each Friday, the students of all grades will have the chance to pay a dollar to be able to wear their hat of choice for the whole day.
This December, instead of raising money for the school, we decided to donate it. The tragedy of a young girl who was hit by a car exiting a bus up in Whitefish made its way to our school through the news. Together, it has been decided that our money will be given to the family of the injured child.
At first, some thought this new suggestion for the hats would put many of the students off task, but Mr. Clark, our eighth grade teacher, is hopeful. He said, “I think It could go either way,” which makes sense after he said also, “They owe us to be more productive." This means students owe on task behavior to their teachers. After all, not many schools have this opportunity.
Overall, each student will be pleased with this new fundraiser, and certainly the money made will be put to good use at Swan River School.
