All math students need to know their multiplication facts. If you child doesn't know them, they need to practice at least 10 minutes a night learning them. It will make learning the steps in multiplication and division much easier.
We will be using INTO MATH by Houghton Mifflin and ENVISION MATH by Scott Foresman.
1. NUMERATION: Place Value, Comparing and Ordering Whole Numbers, Decimal Place Value and Comparing and Ordering Decimals
2. ADDING AND SUBTRACTING WHOLE NUMBERS AND DECIMALS: Rounding Whole numbers and decimals, Adding and Subtracting decimals, multiple-step word problems.
3. MULTIPLYING WHOLE NUMBERS AND DECIMALS - Learning to multiply by multiples of 10, 100, or 1,000 mentally. Multiplying digits: 2 by 2, 3 by 2 and 4 by 2 including problem solving and finding area and perimeter.
4. DIVIDING WHOLE NUMBERS AND DECIMALS - Learning to divide by multiples of 10, 100, or 1,000 mentally. Dividing by 1 digit and 2 digit numbers into 3 and 4 digit numbers.
5. ADDING AND SUBTRACTING FRACTIONS - Using like and unlike denominators - mixed fractions - simplifying - problem solving
6. MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS - Whole number by a fraction and a fraction by a fraction.
7. GEOMETRY - Types of quadrilaterals
8. VOLUME - Finding the volume of a rectangular prism
