Design an autonomous wireless robot, capable of racing on a track following a black line on a white background in the shortest period of time.
Students of School and College both can participate in this event.
Robot and arena should be as per the given specifications.
The robot has to traverse the black line on the white background.
There can be maximum 2 members per team.
ROBOT SPECIFICATIONS
The robot participating in the event must be autonomous.
Lego kits are strictly prohibited. The robot must not be made from any ready-made kit, if found so, the team will be disqualified.
Power source must be on board.
Robot must have sensors onboard to sense the black line marked on the arena.
Dimensions: The width/length/Height of the robot must not exceed 30cm.
Any robotic parts/building material can be used until the robot meets the above specifications and the design and construction are primarily the original work of the team.
Participants who are preparing the arena can make the black line, 1 inch wide, with standard electrical insulating tape or masking tape. The black line forms a path on the white or light colored surface.
There may be certain turns and twists on the track which will try to slow down the robot.
Examples of hurdles
The Robot should start from the starting point mentioned on the track.
If the robot leaves the line, it can be repositioned to the place from where the robot has left the track. Every repositioning will lead to a penalty of 10 points.
If the robot is unable to trace any section of track, that section can be skipped. Before skip of any section it is compulsory for the robot to try to trace that section at least once. After taking a skip, the robot has to be placed on the next checkpoint (mentioned on the arena).
There can be maximum of 2 skips in the entire track. For every skip there will be penalty of 40 points.
The robot could skip only 2 hurdles.
The grading formula for the calculation of score is as follows:
Total Score = [300 - Time Taken in seconds] - [ 40 x S ] - [ 10 x H ] - [EA]
Where: S is no. of skips (2 max).
H is no. of hand touches (2 max)
EA is % of Errors in Arena. The marks of deduction depends upon judges. (max 50)
The robot should strictly follow the specifications provided.
Any deviation from the mentioned specifications may lead to disqualification.
Unethical behavior could lead to disqualification.
Faculty-coordinators have all the rights to take decision for any false conduct during the event. The decision of the judges will be final and abiding.
Argument with judges in any form will lead to the disqualification of the team.
Team with maximum score will be awarded as the winner of the competition.
Winner will be awarded by certification of excellence and cash prize for the event. All other teams will be provided by certificate of participation.
