Winter Pep Band
Our marching band is known for playing pep band for the football team duinring the fall, did you know we also play for our winter sports teams?
The band will be playing at the following dates for the basketball teams, and for the first time for the Wrestling team!! The tunes are very simple and fun, we will run them in right before the games at short rehearsals before we move to the gym to play some pop tunes. The dates are:
Friday 1/18 for Boys and Girls Varsity teams. Call time is 4:00pm, we should be done around 9:30pm.
Thursday 1/17 for the Wrestling Team vs. Skyline. Call Time is 5:00pm, we should be done around 9:00pm.
Friday 1/25 for Boys Varsity vs. Thompson Valley. Call time is 5:00pm, we should be done around 9:00pm.
Wednesday 2/13 for Girls Varisty vs. Thompson Valley. Call time is 5:00pm, we should be done around 9:00pm.
Wednesday 2/27 for Unified Basketball Game vs. Longmont Police Department. The unified program is for our special needs students, our job is to make the event feel like a party for our school!! The game starts at 3:30 and should end around 4:30.
Participation will count toward earning a letter in band as well as extra credit. The music is very fun and simple to learn, everyone should make plans to take part in the awesome experience. This is also something that students can start working on and continue to play for the sports teams in college where there is often scholarship money or stipends involved. Get paid to have fun!!
Mr. Wellman and I hope to see you there, a huge pep band is always a rockin' good time!!
Thank you to all of you, the awesome families that make up our fundraising efforts. Our largest fundraiser, and main source of revenue for our band and performing arts is our weekly Bingo Session at the Longmont Bingo Ally. This fundraiser provides over 95% of our operating budget we need and keeping it healthy is has been an effort we have all been proud of! Please use the link to the left to sign up for one or two sessions per semester. This will ensure we never have to ask families to sell chocolate, cookie dough or anything else.
In addition to providing the main operating funds needed the money raised is used to provide scholarships for students to take private lessons, attend a music camp or upgrade their instrument or any other equipment. Families are strongly encouraged to volunteer and then access these funds to help pay for program fees as well. Please use the Scholarship Link below to fill out the electronic form.
The method book we use in the SCHS Concert band and Symphonic band is the Sound Innovations Intermediate book. This book is available at Amazon.com, jwpepper.com and directly from halleodard.com. Please have this book for your student's instrument, the band will also use the advanced method, but we will provide those books.
