Samik Rai:
Why I do percussion: When I was in 4th grade I was given the chance to pick an instrument and I was torn between the clarinet and general percussion. In the end I choose the clarinet. Going into high school I find myself able to not only continue my native instrument but go into a percussion. This new area of music is a lot of fun to play but also really interesting to learn.
Why I joined PE: I joined percussion ensemble in 9th grade and it brought me into the world of percussion. Really this was the reason why I’m doing percussion now. The ensemble allows me to continue my path in percussion, especially when drumline marching band ended.
The Drumline and Front Ensemble are key components to the Silver Creek Marching Band. It takes individual and ensemble playing skills to be successful in the marching arts. Front Ensemble & Drum Line Members will all have virtual or in-person auditions (based on instructors availability).
